Portable Power In Government Operations: Commercial Products Can Meet The Demand

Portable Power In Government Operations: Commercial Products Can Meet The Demand

Some in the government believe that portable power options are limited or not sufficiently available. Picture a government field operation: a mobile command center coordinating disaster response, a remote surveillance unit monitoring security, or a temporary medical facility treating patients. In these high-stakes, emotional scenarios, portable power that can be obtained in the market place is thought by some in government to not be immediately available and this is a risk to mission success.

However, there are a number of portable power solutions that can deliver clean, consistent power on the go, ensuring government operations run smoothly no matter the location or environment.

Part of the reason why some in the government do not think that commercial products cannot meet their needs is that the government, all too often, thinks that their situation is one of a kind. However, this thinking will all too often place them in a box and do more harm than good.

The real question to ask for government employees is how can we maximize the utilization of commercial grade products instead of opting for overly specific product details that may disqualify commercial grade products?

Here are potential examples for portable power application where commercial grade products can easily meet the demand.

  • FEMA can have a list of portable power products and suppliers that have inventory on hand to support in a disaster relief

  • Department of Defense fields operations should partner with manufacturers to establish a long term plan for portable power products during contingency and training operations

  • Veterans Affair facilities should plan for portable power for mobile stations to protect against grid disruptions

Portable power is an integral part of government operations and there is no reason to believe that it should be a risk to operations. There are a growing number of commercial products that can meet the government’s need.

Turning to a potential real world application, think about a FEMA response package that would park a generator in a neighborhood and hand out portable power products for neighbors within a specific radius. The affected population could charge their portable power devices at the generator then go back to their homes with power for basic amenities. This could be a simple response to help alleviate suffering in the moment and industry can help make this happen.

Shifting this mindset is going to take time and we need the right people in government to do it. However, we in industry can also help by recommending these ideas and communicating them to our government counterparts. Blogs, social media, and streaming all provide great means by which to help these ideas gain traction.

At Ace Real Time Solutions, we specialize in portable power solutions tailored for government needs in both conventional and futuristic ways. Our systems are rugged and built to deliver superior power quality in all manner of environments, ensuring government operations stay powered and protected. Our goal is to ensure that poor power quality or a lack of power does not jeopardize government operations, and that the government can take advantage of commercial grade products to reduce the risk to the mission.
